VISA REQUIREMENTS
Participants from certain countries may be required to obtain a visa to enter Japan. If you are uncertain to your requirement, please consult your nearest Japanese Embassy/ Consulate or visit the website of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan at
http://www.mofa.go.jp/j_info/visit/visa/index.html
It is each participant's responsibility to obtain a visa to enter Japan. However, Conference Secretariat can send documentation that may be included in visa application by the authors (including co-authors) of ACCEPTED abstracts. The documentation may include Letter of Reason for Invitation that states the authors are scheduled to attend and present their work at the conference.
If you need to obtain a visa for attending and presenting at the conference, please carry out the following procedures.
- Complete online Registration at http://www.imsc2012.jp/regist.html.
- Submit your abstract at http://www.imsc2012.jp/regist.html.
Apply for Letter of Reason for Invitation to JTB (visa-application@t-e-i.co.jp), an official travel agent, by email with one of the followings as an attachment:
a) A reference written by the society representative of your country/region (see http://www.imss.nl/affiliates.html)
or
b) a membership certificate issued by your country/region's MS society
NB: In case your country/region does not have an IMSF affiliate MS society, send an inquiry to the conference secretariat asking if your possible source of letter of reference would be acceptable. (In general, the source should be an individual who is recognizable by the local organizing committee or IMSF.)
After completion of these steps, the local organizing committee can start issuing Letter of Reason for Invitation, which will be sent to the author after the acceptance of his/her abstract. Please note that visa application process might take much longer in some countries. We highly recommend you to consider it at your earliest convenience. We will not be able to accept the requests for necessary documentation for VISA application after 1, August in 2012.
